What does our adoption process look like?

Submit an Application
An approved application is the quickest way to getting to the next steps. You will receive a notification upon approval.
Even if you don't have a kitty picked out, this is how we learn more about you and can help us match you with the purrfect pal.

Meet Our Kitties

Finalize the Adoption
Once you have chosen a kitty, a POMH volunteer will initiate the checkout process using a program called Shelterluv. You will receive a text with a link to complete the adoption.
Adoption Contract & Fees

Review and sign the Adoption Contract.

Pay the adoption fee. This fee is a considered a nonrefundable donation to help cover costs of the cat while in our care.

Receive your new cat's adoption paperwork and medical records via email.

You'll receive a separate email (one time only!) with a link for you to register for an Adopterluv account.

All adoption forms and medical records from POMH will be automatically uploaded into your account.

Additional flyers and resources will be automatically uploaded for you as well.

Take Your Kitty Home!
TIP: Try to have your home ready with all the needed supplies before you bring your new friend home.

If adopting out of Petco, you can shop for all the essentials while in the store.
REMEMBER: Patience is so so important... Give your new friend AT LEAST...

Keep In Touch
Even after the adoption process ends, POMH remains available to give advice and/or point you to the right resources.
